When You first start Your journey as a beginning Christian...It is very natural to ask internal questions such as..."What does it mean to have Faith?", "What does it even mean to believe?". There is nothing wrong with these kind of questions, Its just like a baby being born into a new world. Like A baby, You might have
instrinsic questions that You may not know how to ask. Like a baby, You will have wonderment, excitement, and of course, You will stumble and fall.
This is the humble walk of the beginning Christian...For most of Us, there was no miraculous moment, emotional extacy...but a humble private realization of humility, a broken-ness that
somthing was missing, that "I needed to change", because "I did'nt like where I was headed", or "I was lost and empty inside".
This "broken-ness" (AKA, a repentant heart) is the beginning of True Faith. Without repentance (and an accompanying Change through the process of being "Born Again" that will surely follow), Your journey is in high probability a lie.
You cannot keep Your sins and increase Your level of Faith.
True Faith is a forward moving direction. Your Faith is directly proportional to the amount of Sins You keep...the more You cut off, the more Faith You can achieve.
This is why You see many self-professed Christians walking in depression, or fear...because they are "Back-slidden". The fruits of True Faith is Peace and Joy. This is how You know
You are walking in a forward-direction through the Spirit of Our Lord Jesus.
One of the amazing character traits of Jesus as well documented in the bible, is that He never showed fear or was anxious or depressed. In fact, for a Man in His position... He was inexplicably at Peace!!! He represents the target for Us to reach. To be Just Like Him. But I know what Your thinking..."But Jesus is God!" Yes that is true, He is!!!
and Your also probably saying "...but No One is Perfect!, only God is perfect!" or "Only Jesus can do that!" , Yes that is true as well...especially for an upstart Christian...
But If You read the scriptures You will be surprised by what Jesus had to say!...
John 14:12-14 -
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do , because I go to My Father.
13†“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be †glorified in the Son. 14“If you cask anything in My name, I will do it.
Did You get that...Friends!... Jesus actually expects us not only to do what He did but to also do greater things!!!!!!
~ ...But how about being Perfect? ...Ok, How about this one! ~
Luke 6:40 -
“A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.
~ The following passage sums up our walk Perfectly (no pun intended) ~
Hebrews 6:1 -
1Therefore, †leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from †dead works and of faith toward God,
This passage in essence means that We are expected to Move Forward everyday in Our Faith...and NOT stay the same. The ultimate goal...You guessed it..."Perfection".
I also want to end this by stressing the fact that Faith and Peace are directly proportional...they are like Hand to Glove. In fact the greatest benefit and the Hallmark characteristic of True Faith is
