This is one of those questions that probably lingers in the back of Your mind but don't quite know how to answer it.
Your not alone. Personally this question has bothered me since the early 2000's. I first noticed small shifts in time back then and over time has seemed to have grown geometrically it seems till now. Its something subtle, therefore not easily discerned.
The topic of time speeding up is often passed upon by this type of response... "time goes by faster the older You get", "thats just part of aging".
But is it really because of aging? I remember when I was in my elementary school days, me and my friends would talk about how it seemed as if summer vacation felt like one long adventure...where a summer would feel like 3 years compared to now...and waiting 1 week seemed Like
it would take forever to come. Well I would'nt think much of it if it were not for my own observations of todays Youth and discussions of this same topic with kids in the elementary school age range...the majority of the answers I get is that Time is fast for todays kids as well.
Note: But don't take my word for it. Go and ask some Kids and find out for Yourself.
What makes it mysterious is that You cant quite put a finger on it. a 5 minute song is still 5 minutes. A 2 hour movie is still a 2 hour movie. However, It seems as if it is how we percieve the time
that has changed. Somehow, time feels like it is compressed as it passes by.
Science of course has their own answer, such as the Schumann Resonance, which theorizes that as the frequency resonance has increased...time itself is moving faster.
Where now 24 hours feels more like 16 hours and is dropping as the frequency rises.
Is time an illusion? (something that is now being talked about in certain circles)
But could the Bible offer an explanation to this phenomenon? As a Christian who has studied prophecy my whole life, I feel as if I did feel the Holy Spirit lead me to certain passages that may provide
clues. Here are my findings:
Matthew 24:22
“And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; †but for the celect’s sake those days will be shortened.
I've read this passage countless times it seems, and One day verse 22 just jumped out.
...and the same retelling from Mark 13:20
“And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.
Although most of Us would take these words at face value (and I did for a long time)...Could it be, that this passage is also "Literal"? That these days will literally be shortened?
These passages quoted from Our Lord and Savior led me to other passages that I feel have a co-relation.
Look at this from the book of Enoch 80:2
in the days of the sinners the years shall be shortened, ....
Now look at this incredible passage from The Letter of Barnabas confirming the above passage from Enoch!!!
The Letter Of Barnabas 4:1-3
2 We should not allow our souls to relax, thinking they can consort with sinners and the wicked; otherwise we may become like them.
The final stumbling block is at hand, about which it has been written, just as Enoch says, “For this reason the Master shortened the seasons and the days, that his beloved may hurry and arrive at his inheritance.”
Isn't that the most amazing passage! Not only does it confirm Enoch but also emphasizes the words of Our Lord. Also notice that It was Jesus himself that sped up time!!!
...And Finally...look at this most compelling quote from the religion of Islam...
“The Hour will not begin until time passes quickly, so a year will be like a month, and a month will be like a week, and a week will be like a day, and a day will be like an hour, and an hour will be like the burning of a braid of palm leaves.”
This one is interesting, because time speeding up is also in reference to the end of the world. That the time of the end will not occur until a Year feels like a Month! Brothers and Sisters, I dont know about You but I think its getting close to feeling that interval of time.
The common denominator of the above examples is that this "Speeding Up of Time" seems to occur at the End of the World. I personally believe the speeding up of time is caused by Our Lord Jesus. Please check out the article Yeah...Jesus is speeding up time to find out why?.
